About Inés

Inés Badalo has won several composition awards including the Composition Prize  of the Colegio de España in ParisINAEM (France, Spain); Composition Prize of the Portuguese Society of Authors/Antena 2 RTP, among others. She was selected to participate at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers (Netherlands), and she has received a Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation.

Her music is performed by renowned orchestras and ensembles, such as the WDR Sinfonieorchester, Spanish National Orchestra, Mexico National Symphony Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra and hand werk Ensemble.

Her music is programmed at festivals and auditoriums around the world such as the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik; among others in Vienna, Milan, Salzburg, Porto, Lisbon, Paris, Brussels, London, Bucharest, Madrid, Barcelona, Bogotá, Mexico City, etc.

The Real Filharmonía de Galicia commissions a new work for orchestra from Inés Badalo. The work will be premiered by the Real Filharmonía de Galicia conducted by Baldur Brönnimann.

Inés Badalo, featured composer at the Aveiro biennial Reencontros de Música Contemporânea

Her works Electrum, Rust and Dé-coll/age, will be performed by Taleae Trio, hand werk ensemble, and Luís Salomé, respectively. Besides that will be held the Country Premiere of Zafre, for piano and orchestra, performed by João Almeida (piano), Orquestra das Beiras and Carlos Lopes (conductor).

The composer Inés Badalo has received the Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation for a new compositional project with the philosopher and poet Chantal Maillard, the soprano Johanna Vargas, the conductor Asier Puga and Grupo Enigma.

In 2024 Inés Badalo has won the SGAE-AEOS Symphonic Commission Award to compose a concerto for piano and orchestra, Zafre, that will be premiered by Alberto Rosado and Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, conducted by Shiyeon Sung.
